This October half term, discover stories and objects from Roman Britain in York – and be in with the chance of winning an amazing prize!
The Totally Chaotic History Museum Trail will run at the Yorkshire Museum Saturday 19 October to Saturday 2 November.
Families will be able to pick up a free activity sheet from the Yorkshire Museum and explore the curious objects that have survived from Roman Britain.
Give yourself a Roman name, design your own Roman outfit and learn more about mosaics – and if you complete the trail you’ll get a Totally Chaotic History sticker.
The trail is organised by Kids in Museums and Walker Books. It celebrates the release of Totally Chaotic History: Roman Britain Gets Rowdy, by bestselling historian and podcaster Greg Jenner with expert interruptions by Roman historian Dr Emma Southon, and illustrations by Rikin Parekh.
Over 50 museums around the UK will be taking part in the national trail, and it aims to encourage families to enjoy visit a visit to their local museum during the half term.
A national competition has also been launched – which gives families the chance to win a copy of Totally Chaotic History: Roman Britain Gets Rowdy and a Double Art Pass Plus Kids, donated by the Art Fund. A National Art Pass gives you free entry to hundreds of museums, galleries and historic houses across the UK.
To enter, simply design your own Roman mosaic and share your drawing on X or Instagram with the hashtag #TCHMuseumTrail and tag @kidsinmuseums for a chance to win.
The trail is included in general admission at the Yorkshire Museum. To find out more and to book your tickets online, visit their website here.
