Police have launched a murder investigation after a man died today from injuries suffered in an attack at York Station.
British Transport Police were called to the station at 8.48pm on Sunday following reports of a serious assault.
Witnesses saw a man lying on the floor unconscious being given CPR.
Paramedics and North Yorkshire Police also attended, and a man in his 30s was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition.
Sadly, the man died in hospital today with his family by his bedside.
Mckenzie Dicicco, 22, of Belgravia Gardens, Middlesbrough, has been charged with murder and affray following the assault.
He is due to appear at York Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Thursday).
Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Sam Painter said: “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and loved ones, who are being supported by specialist family liaison officers.
“We ask that their privacy is respected at this time.
“A man has been charged in connection with this incident and we are not looking for anyone else in connection.”
