The rather marvellous Aesthetica Short Film Festival brings the best mini-movies to York from around the world each November.

And cinema buffs shouldn’t miss an evening of some of the festival’s most outstanding films later this month.
The National Centre For Early Music has joined forces with Aesthetica to stage the movie night.
The venue, off Walmgate, will showcase several films including the 2015 People’s Choice winner Acoustic Kitty– followed by a Q&A with producer Adam Shakinovsky.
Drama and animation
Stephen Parker’s drama Dust and Resin, chosen for its perception-altering narrative;
Daina O Pusic’s comedy Rhonna & Donna, winner of the newly established Northern Film School Award for Best Screenplay, a dynamic tale of conflict and resolution;
Mr Madila directed by Rory Waudby-Tolley, featuring a series of conversations between the filmmaker and a gifted spiritual healer, exploring the fabric of the universe through animation, and
Elders, a documentary by Glen Milner which tells the story of Karim and Katari Chand who, after leaving India for the industrial north of England in the 1960s, never imagined they would have longest marriage in the world…
