York Menfulness has teamed up with the York City Knights to help improve the mental health of men in the region.
The good news comes soon after getting the mental health support group got a pretty special endorsement from Jimmy Carr. During his York show, the star stand-up said: “I think it’s a pretty good f***ing cause!”
Monthly social events have been set up on the first Monday of each month at the LNER Community Stadium where men can get together, have a coffee, unwind and support each other in a unique setting.

Dan Braidley, co-founder of York Menfulness and Yorkey Dads, is looking forward to the next session.
“We’re really excited about working with the Knights on these monthly inclusive socials,” he said.
“They give York men an opportunity to have a brew, meet old and new friends and, if they wish, communicate any worries they may have and receive support and advice from their peers.
“The fact these sessions are in the new stadium make it slightly different and great environment to have these sessions. You don’t have to be a rugby fan to get involved!”
It comes as Menfulness is growing, with a range of weekly activities. “We’ve had referrals from GPs and are developing links with the NHS, the universities and other local organisations,” said Dan.
“We also now have an impact report that contains evidence that the community we’ve established is making a real and positive change to men’s mental health in York.”
The next Knights Menfulness session will take place at 7pm on Monday, 6 December. The session can be attended in person or via Zoom. More details here.
