Staff at York Hospital were evacuated from the building this morning after a fire alarm went off.
Firefighters from York fire station went to the hospital in response to the alarm shortly before 10am today (Wednesday, 8 April).
Members of staff from the main hospital building waited outside while the fire crews investigated.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service told YorkMix that it was a false alarm. The probable cause was a smoke detector being triggered in a kitchen.
Staff have now returned to work.
