Police investigating the discovery of homemade explosives in a York village have made another arrest.
We reported yesterday that a garden in Copmanthorpe had been cordoned off after several suspect devices were found.
A bomb disposal team was also brought in.
Officers searched a nearby address and arrested two men and two women, aged between 18 and 53,.
There were further developments today. A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Four people who were arrested in connection with an investigation into homemade explosives in a village near York have been released on conditional bail whist enquires continue.
“A fifth person was also arrested in connection with the investigation and has also been released on conditional bail.
“They are due to answer bail early next month.”
Yesterday, officers acknowledged that it was an alarming incident for residents, but assured the public it was not terror related.
