York fish and chip shop closes after fire

A York fish and chip shop is temporarily closed after fire broke out there yesterday (Friday).

Fire crews from York and Acomb were called to Tang Hall Fish And Chips on Tang Hall Lane at 11.20am on Friday.

The fire was confined to a fryer and the ducting system.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews carried out a thorough inspection of the ducting and a neighbouring property to check for fire spread.

“All damage was confined to the fryer and ducting.”

The shop has a sign up saying it is closed until further notice.
