Firefighters tackled two separate blazes at York properties on Thursday (December 28).
In the first call-out, crews from York, Acomb and Huntington went to a kitchen fire at a house in Del Pyke at 12.36pm.
When crews arrived they found that a fire to the oven was already out.
It was caused by a plastic chopping board left inside. Crews made the area safe and ventilated the kitchen for the occupiers.
Soon afterwards, at 1.47pm, a crew from Acomb attended a report of a tree on fire to the rear of a property in The Mount.
The cause of the fire is unknown, but the crews were able to extinguish the fire using a hose reel jet, triple extension ladder and an axe.
