Firefighters have appealed to motorists to take care around floodwater after a rescue last night (Tuesday).
Crews from Acomb were called out at 6.24pm after a car drove into floodwater at Upper Poppleton and became stuck.
Firefighters rescued the driver, and made the car safe to prevent it being a hazard in the road.
Afterwards Acomb firefighters said on Twitter: “PLEASE don’t be tempted to drive into flood water, turn around and find alternative routes.
“Already we’ve had to rescue one!”
