A leading charity has benefited from a donation of more than £1,000 from a local financial practice as part of an ongoing referral scheme.
Ardent Financial Planning initiated the scheme to encourage clients to refer friends and family members who may need help with their finances. As an incentive, Ardent committed to making a £50 donation to York Against Cancer for every meeting that comes from a client recommendation.
This independent, local charity provides practical help and support for patients and their families living with cancer across York, North and East Yorkshire.
Elain Hughes, business director at Ardent, said: “Supporting local charity initiatives to help the community thrive is incredibly important to us. We are very proud of our referral scheme and glad we can contribute to the amazing work that York Against Cancer does.”
To date, Ardent has donated £1,050 to York Against Cancer through this scheme, which is just one of many charity initiatives they are engaged with.
Practical help and support for families living with cancer
Ardent provides Chartered financial planning services in York and the surrounding area, assisting with issues including retirement, conscientious investing, and divorce.
Ardent make a donation for every meeting that comes from a recommendation, whether it is an in-person meeting or a video call. There is no requirement for the person to become a client after the meeting.
So far, the initiative has raised more than £1,000 for York Against Cancer, who rely solely on generous support from businesses and individuals.

Donations help to provide support to those affected by cancer
York Against Cancer has gone the extra mile in supporting patients by providing free transportation to radiotherapy treatment every working day. Furthermore, two luxurious properties have been made available for individuals seeking respite from their cancer treatments, offering a much-needed opportunity for recuperation.
The charity’s dedication extends to the development and operation of their brand-new facility, The Leveson Centre, a cutting-edge cancer support facility in York. Here, individuals affected by cancer can access an array of complementary therapies, psychology services, group support, and more.
The charity has also played a vital role in supporting medical innovation in the region. Notable contributions include the establishment of Yorkshire’s first mobile chemotherapy unit. Funds also helped provide support for York Hospital’s surgical robot, enhancing cancer treatment options for the local community.
