The 13th edition of the BAFTA-qualifying Aesthetica Film Festival has published its 2023 programme – and it’s full of visual goodies.
The festival takes place in York across 15 iconic venues from 8-12 November and includes 300 films.
It also offers the opportunity learn from top film industry organisations in more than 60 masterclasses and practical workshops for adults and children.
Film lovers can meet and network at social events and media art exhibitions. New for 2023 is the Games Lab, a UK first and an exciting addition to the festival’s ever-expanding offering of Virtual and Expanded Reality experiences.
This year’s screening programme includes films by Ricky Gervais, Maxine Peake, Ben Whishaw and Oscar-winner Tim Webber.
There are hundreds of films in competition spanning 12 genres including animation, comedy, documentary, drama, fashion, family friendly, thriller and more.
The films can be experienced in York on the big screen, or streamed from home via the Virtual Platform.
Aesthetica is proud to screen films that touch on today’s most pressing issues including gender, identity, the climate crisis and social injustices. It provides a platform for up-and-coming directors through the New Wave initiative, screening stories from the next generation alongside those of big names.
