The most stylish seven days in the city returns as York Fashion Week is back this spring.
The fashionable festival returns for part one of its annual celebration of grassroots and indie design from Thursday 2 to Monday 6 May 2024.
York Fashion Week will once again unite talented creatives, fashionistas, stylists and volunteers passionate about all things fashion.
Ahead of the tickets for the festival going on sale tomorrow (Thursday), York Fashion Week (YFW) have revealed some of their key highlights – including a collaboration with local waste management and recycling company Yorwaste.
YFW, with Yorwaste, held its first ever major sustainable design competition (entries close this Friday) which challenged designers to explore ways of re-purposing and remodelling PPE and discarded clothing, transforming it into innovative and stylish statement pieces.
A judging panel will select 40 looks from the entrants to be exhibited on the final night of York Fashion Week, with 25 of these being worn by models on the runway.
Some other festival highlights include a luxury afternoon tea and makeup masterclass with Estee Lauder, a runway show that celebrates the gift of ageing, and a showcase of fashion modelled by people who are moving on from a breast cancer diagnosis.
Nicky Hayer, creative director at York Fashion Week, explained: “This season we’re delighted to be back with a diverse calendar that will see us move across the city. We’re in venues like Mansion House, York Art Gallery, Clarendon Gallery, The Impossible and more. And the designers have really brought their A game, with what they’re showing this season.
“I’m incredibly proud that YFW can once again be a platform for so many innovative minds.”
