York’s most fashionable festival is back – and will be launched by the nephew of iconic fashion designer Alexander McQueen.
Gary James McQueen, a fashion designer himself, will launch the Spring/Summer York Fashion Week – which runs from Thursday 27 April to Monday 1 May 2023.
The line up of events taking place across the city during the five day festival of fashion have been released, and we’ve put together a guide to six unmissable events.
Nicky Hayer, creative director at York Fashion Week, explained: “Yet again, we’ve been able to curate a fantastic line up of events this season thanks to the continued support of independent brands and designers from across the UK.
“And having Gary James McQueen backing the event and bringing his incredible talent and insight is truly amazing for us.”

Gary James McQueen: The Legacy
We’re proud and honoured to welcome Gary James McQueen to York Fashion Week for this highlight event inside Tempest Anderson Hall at Yorkshire Museum.
The night will begin with a showing of Guiding Light – a digital display that showcases McQueen’s latest collection and highlights his remarkable technical expertise along with his futuristic approach to fashion and innovation. Followed by a Q&A.
