York’s electric double deckers are back on the road.
YorkMix reported on Tuesday that a bus depot fire in London had led to the withdrawal of of Metrodecker EV buses made by Switch Mobility across the country.
In York, that meant 21 Park&Ride double deckers were removed from service.
An investigation then took place into the cause of the blaze at the Potters Bar bus depot, which engulfed six vehicles last Sunday (22 May).
That has now concluded that it is safe to allow the Metrodecker fleet to take to the road again.
A spokesperson for First York said: “Our Metrodecker buses are entering service again from today after a temporary pause in service at the request of the manufacturer.
“An investigation has been conducted following an incident last weekend at Potters Bar which it is now known affected a specific vehicle and was a result of human error.
“Following further safety checks, the manufacturer has confirmed that our York fleet can return to service.”
