A confident York couple are trying a threesome tonight – in front of the TV cameras!
Tom and Natalie Beard are among the stars of Channel 4’s Open House: The Great Sex Experiment.
This is a show where “curious committed couples visit an extraordinary retreat to explore opening up their relationships with sexually liberated residents”.
On episode 2 of the show, screened last week, Tom and Natalie, explained they have been together for 12 years, married for five, and have two children, aged ten and six.
They met in a car park when Tom was 18 and he was “quite reserved”.
“Before we met, I was definitely the one that had been more sexually experienced,” Natalie says. “The wildest sexual experience I had, and Tom knows about it, is I had a fivesome with four boys – for my 17th birthday.”
“I’ve had sex with my wife. That’s about as interesting as mine’s been before,” Tom says.
On the show, he says he is nervous about taking part in a threesome. It was Natalie’s idea. “If our relationship ended I would be gutted.”
But she says they “just want to have fun”.
In last week’s show, when they both kissed other partners in a hot tub, it opened up lots of mixed feelings in Tom, 36, and 33-year-old Natalie. And they opted out of a threesome.
However, things progress further in tonight’s episode (Thursday, 1 June). They feel a connection with a Londoner call Precious and the three of them spend the night together.
“I never imagined it would go that far. It was amazing,” Natalie said.
They were “definitely happy to explore more,” after their experience, Tom added.
The couple told the Mail Online they were glad they took part. “We’re always a strong couple, but this has made us stronger,” said Tom, an electrical technician.
“We have this event now that we’ve bonded over, we can relive the moment together.”
Natalie, who has a job grooming horses, told the paper: “The children were a massive worry. That’s why we did it at when they were at primary school, and before they had phones, so they won’t stumble across it on the internet.
“Some parents know at the school but no none seems to have told them, thankfully.”

While Natalie says her parents won’t be watching, they have had a lot of support from friends.
They would like to do something similar again, but say the subject is still taboo.
“There is now so much support for the LGBTQ+ community, which is good. But if a committed couple want to do something like this, it is still often frowned upon,” Tom told the Mail.
“We would never have affairs and cheat on each other, but we were happy to do this together so why should it be a problem?”
Natalie agreed. “I can imagine lots of couples want to do this. It’s a way to bring some fun to your life while strengthening your relationship. And to those who judge it, I say ‘don’t knock it until you’ve tried it’.”
