The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in York has jumped by 109 today (Sunday, 4 October).

That takes the cumulative total to 1,507 – giving an overall infection rate of 715.5 cases per 100,000 people.

It comes as the UK saw a record daily rise in cases of 22,961.

The daily figure includes 15,841 additional cases which were recorded between September 25 and October 2 but not included on previous days because of a technical issue, the government’s dashboard stated, adding Sunday’s data is “therefore artificially high for England and the UK”.
