York company that transforms reclaimed wood into things of beauty pops up in top store
A small York company that upcycles reclaimed wood into beautiful objects has opened a pop-up shop in a top city department store.
PurePallets transforms old pallets, railways sleepers and wood from old barns into unique, bespoke furniture, gifts and homeware. Now they are available from Fenwick in the Coppergate Centre.
The sustainable company hand-make all their products in their workshop in Acaster Malbis. They are hoping the initial six-week pop-up will be extended into the Christmas sales period.
The company has been trading since 2016 and includes York Gin among its trade customers. They also run a successful stall on Shambles Market each weekend and have a full order book of individual customers.
They are currently expanding their small team. Co-founder Dawn Taylor said: “The guys at Fenwick approached us to see if we’d like to set up a pop-up in their home and gifts department.
“It’s a sign that we’re being recognised for the quality of the work we do. We’re excited and delighted – and hope it’s the start of a longer term relationship with Fenwick.”
