The chilly conditions have brought an end to the big sporting fixture in the city tonight (Tuesday).
York City’s home game against Dorking Wanderers, due to have kicked off at 7.45pm, has been called off.
A statement on the club website said: “The Minstermen’s home Vanarama National League fixture against Dorking Wanderers, scheduled for Tuesday, 16 January, has been postponed.
“This is due to a frozen pitch at the LNER Community Stadium, following freezing temperatures overnight.
“As soon as we have a re-arranged date for the game, we will confirm on our website and social media channels respectively.
“All ticket details will be clarified in due course too.”
It was due to be City’s first game after a ten-day break. The game was already a rearranged fixture. It was originally scheduled to take place on 2 December, but rearranged after City progressed into the FA Cup second round.
York are on a seven-match unbeaten run, leaving them 18th in the National League.
