A city centre square is being dug up today (Monday) after a water main burst.
Kings Square in York is closed to traffic while the work continues.
A team from Yorkshire Water are on the scene, and have dug down to the pipes close to York’s Chocolate Story.
A spokesperson for Yorkshire Water said: “Our team are on site to repair a burst main and the section of road will be closed to allow the work to be carried out safely.
“The burst is on a small 3-inch main and has been isolated.”
The fire service were called to the water main burst at 6.30pm yesterday.
The water flooded the basement of a property on the square. York firefighters attended and assisted Yorkshire Water at the scene.
