A staple of York’s festive calendar is set to return this year.
York Christmas Market is a favourite for both residents and visitors alike – with people travelling far and wide to experience the city at Christmas.
It’s back once again to bring festive cheer in the form of alpine chalets, with a selection of stalls selling gifts, treats and goodies.
York Christmas Market will return to Parliament Street from Thursday 16 November to Friday 22 December 2023.
The market will be transforming Parliament Street and St Sampson’s Square into a Christmassy wonderland of local traders.
It was revealed by Make It York, who run the market, that nearly half (49%) of the city’s festive visitors came for the Christmas market alone – with York’s Christmas activities influencing 75% of tourists to come to the city.
A big change for the market this year is that there will be no pop-up bar.
Thor’s Tipi had been at the centre of the market since 2015, which was replaced by the Swiss chalet-inspired Winter Hutte last year. However, it is not set to return this year and it does not have a replacement.
Though, York is never short of things to do at Christmas.
