Tickets are now on sale for the annual Macmillan Cancer ‘Hopes & Dreams’ Charity Ball.
Matt Ascough, from Malton, is in the seventh year of organising the ball. He fundraises for Macmillan following the support he had from the charity 10 years ago.
In 2013 Matt, then aged 26, was diagnosed with testicular cancer and was supported by a Macmillan nurse in the weeks after his diagnosis and surgery.
The charity ball returns to York Racecourse on Saturday 18 November 2023.
In our YorkMix Hero Awards last year, Macmillan Hopes and Dreams Ball won Charity Event of the Year.
The Macmillan Hopes and Dreams Ball has raised more than £130,000 so far and organisers hope to hit £160,000 on the night.
YorkMix Radio presenter Laura Castle spoke to Matt to find out more.
“It’s a jam packed night,” said Matt. “We are going for a 1920s theme this year.
“We’re going to have a really amazing green carpet welcome, fizz reception, auctions, fun and games.
“We’re doing all 1920s throughout dinner with a themed room, and then we’re going to really start the party and have ‘The Monotones’ and a Ibiza Club Lounge.
“It’s going to be an absolute amazing night.”
Tickets are now on sale for the charity ball and are available here. Tickets start from £70, with all proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer Support.
