A York bridge that was closed due to a police incident has now reopened.
Emergency services went to the incident on Clifton Bridge at about 2.30pm.
The bridge was closed to road traffic in both directions, and river traffic was also suspended.
At 3.24pm the incident was brought to a conclusion and Clifton Bridge reopened.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “A crew from Acomb and the fire service boat from York responded to a report of a distressed female who was on the wrong side of the railings on a bridge.
“Crews stood by and liaised with police and ambulance crews on scene.
“The female made her own way to the right side of the railings and was taken into the care of ambulance crews.”
