Popular York radio presenter Roxanne Pallett was airlifted to hospital after crashing in a stock car race.

Roxanne, who co-presents the Ben And Roxy Breakfast on Minster FM, crashed into a concrete wall at Hunmanby Raceway near Filey on Wednesday (July 18).

She was racing her co-presenter Ben Fry as part of a promotion. A witness told the Sun: “She tried to overtake Ben on a bend and was travelling too fast and smashed into the concrete wall on the track.

“She lost consciousness for about 30 seconds on impact. Fortunately she was wearing a helmet and race gear.”

Injuries not thought to be serious

The former Emmerdale star was airlifted to hospital by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Happily her injuries are not believed to be serious. She is said to have suffered severe bruising and two sprained wrists and is awaiting the results of a CT scan.

Firefighters from Scarborough worked for two hours to cut her from the wrecked stock car.
