Board game enthusiasts, mark your calendars!
The York Board Games Convention is set to make a return later this year, and it’s bigger and better than ever in its brand new venue of St Peter’s School.
Following its highly successful inaugural event last year, it will take place from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 October 2025 at its new Clifton venue and promises a weekend filled with various tabletop experiences.
The previous event, held at the Spurriergate Centre, sold out in under two hours.
The convention will offer a diverse range of activities catering to everyone from seasoned strategists to those just discovering the joy of board games and role-playing games (RPGs).
Attendees can expect classic board games, dice games and immersive role-playing games. Social deduction games like ‘Werewolf’ and ‘Blood on the Clocktower,’ are also expected to make a return.
There will also be a range traders showcasing and selling board game goods and geeky ephemera.

Specific details regarding tournaments, competitions, guests, and other special events for the 2025 convention are still under wraps – so watch this space for future exciting announcements.
“We are incredibly excited to bring the York Board Games Convention back for its second year,” says Ryan Willis, lead organiser.
“The enthusiasm and support we saw at our first event was overwhelming, and we are thrilled to be building on that success to create an even more memorable weekend for everyone who loves board games and RPGs.”
Tickets for the York Board Games Convention are already on sale, with tickets starting from £25.
There is also an option to buy a ticket for the full three days, priced at £50. The convention aims to be family friendly, with children aged 7yrs or under attending for free.
