They’ve rocked up with a great idea at York Barbican.
Plans are afoot to open a rock’n’roll bar and grill at the entertainment venue.
And if that news wasn’t tasty enough, there’s also going to be a craft ales and cocktail lounge opening up too. Both are due to up and running in time for the visit of six-times platinum band Texas on Thursday, September 21.
And an appeal has already gone out to people for some musical memorabilia to decorate the music-themed bar.
Seymour’s Bar and Grill

The rock’n’roll eaterie is called Seymour’s Bar and Grill. Offering rib-eye steak, fish and hand-cut chips and veggie burgers, “Seymour’s food is cooked fresh, and made with a little bit of soul and a dash of rock ‘n’ roll”.
Desserts include a chocolate pot with raspberry cream and lemon shortbread, or you could plump for a selection of Yorkshire cheeses
York Barbican is also undertaking an ‘eat-to-seat guarantee’.
Arrive at the grill no later than 90 minutes ahead of the performance and you will be fed, watered and in your seat in time for the performance – or your money back.
Bowie in bricks

The centre is seeking music memorabilia for the new bar.
Marketing king at the Barbican Seb Santabarbara made this appeal to the good folk of York:
Do you have an old guitar, or maybe a signed vinyl at the back of your drawer?
Donate them to us and get free comps for a show of your choice!
He says the response has been impressive. York artist Shaun Collins is creating a portrait of David Bowie out of Lego for the bar.
And another resident, Claire Chadwick, has donated a guitar covered in stickers from bands from and that have passed through York.
If you can help with some memorabilia, message Seb at the York Barbican Facebook page.
Cocktail lounge

Clifford’s is the name of the Barbican’s new craft ales and cocktails lounge.
This is a private bar where you can “enjoy a VIP preshow experience with a difference”.
It’s available as a £12 upgrade for selected shows, starting with that Texas gig. That includes a complimentary drink on arrival.
The bar will have a range of local craft ales as well as cocktails.
