It’s the indie York bar that has survived floods and pandemics to keep serving customers with a smile.
And now Dyls under Skeldergate Bridge has emerged from a ‘crazy year’ to be named one of the top 30 bars in the UK.
The family-run business was named among Britain’s best after an analysis of TripAdvisor’s ratings.

The numbers were crunched by Liberty Games, which supplies pool tables and the like to bars around the country.
They used TripAdvisor’s number 1 rated pub or bar in every city and ranked them by the number of 5* reviews to see which topped the charts.
And on that basis, Dyls came in at number 16. It was one of only two Yorkshire bars to make the list, with Lost And Found in Leeds at number three.
Shut by the floods for some time last year, Dyls then responded brilliantly to the pandemic by creating an outdoor bar when restrictions allowed.

And they have more planned. Dyls said on Facebook: “After a crazy year or so, we are so thrilled to be named as one of the 30 best bars in the UK!
“Thank you to our team, as well as our amazing customers.
“We can’t wait to share more of our journey with you soon, including our final refurbished room opening, exciting new food and drinks being added to our menu and many exciting events in the pipeline! Watch this space.”
