A new track by a York band has been declared a winner by TV bosses – who have snapped it up to soundtrack their coverage of the city’s biggest race meeting.
Channel 4 will be broadcasting the whole of the Ebor Festival at York Racecourse, which starts on Wednesday (May 19) and runs for four days.
And to promote their coverage they have chosen DJ by York band Lost Trends as the backing track to a new trailer.
The film was first screened on August 12, and will be dotted around schedules all week.
It features scenes from previous Ebor Festivals, as well as racegoers including former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
First for new studio
Lost Trends’ pulsating track DJ, with its driving guitar and drums, adds huge energy to the Ebor Festival promo.
It is also the first track recorded, signed and released by brand new York studio and label Dr Shakamoto’s.
The band and the guys at Dr Shakamoto’s are old school friends and took on their first project together, recording in a new studio, setting up a new label and releasing a new single with a new video.
And we are delighted to say that YorkMix played a small part in this great track achieving national prominence.
Andy Baker from Dr Shakamoto’s told us:
Channel 4 found us after reading an article on your site, so thank you very much!
DJ was released in July and is available to buy on iTunes.
