A York bakery is shut and has been stripped of all its fittings as it undergoes a big makeover.
Thomas The Baker on Market Street will be closed for four weeks.
The shop won planning permission for the refurbishment last year.
Under the plans, the shop front of the Grade II listed building will be updated, including asymmetric split doors.
Planning documents said: “The doors would also be brought forward to the front elevation of the shop front to deter anti-social behaviour as the current layout gives a recess off the street and regularly is used as a toilet.”
The inside of the shop would be refitted with a preparation area at the rear and a servery counter nearer the front.
Thomas the Baker is housed in a Victorian building that is Grade II listed.
A notice on the shop window says: “While we are closed Sara and the team at Kings Square will look forward to continuing to supply you with all your favourite treats.
“We are planning to reopen on Saturday 16 March, when Carly and her team will be looking forward to welcoming you back to our new look shop.”
