York and North Yorkshire has been basking in seemingly endless sunshine, but the current dry spell could soon be at an end.
The Met Office has today issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms lasting throughout this Sunday (18 June).
The warning covers most of England. “Heavy rain and thunderstorms on Sunday will bring a chance of disruption to parts of England and Wales,” the Met Office says.
There’s a small chance of flash flooding and transport disruption.
The latest weather forecast says York and North Yorkshire will bask in temperatures up to 25ºC today (Friday). Sunshine and a high of 23ºC are forecast for Saturday, with showers on Sunday.
