Could another blast of winter be coming our way?
The Met Office seems to think so. This morning (Monday) it has issued a yellow weather warning for snow for the north of England, including York and most of North Yorkshire.
The warning runs from 3am on Thursday (8 February) to 3am on Friday.
“A period of snowfall could bring some disruption on Thursday and Thursday night,” the Met Office said.
They say
- There is a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected
- There is a slight chance that some rural communities could become cut off
- There is a small chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel.
The warning covers most of North Yorkshire, except the coast.
According to forecasts, York’s temperature on Thursday and Friday will range from 2ºC to 5ºC.
