A yellow warning for “very wet weather” covering York and North Yorkshire has been issued by the Met Office.
The second named storm of the season, Storm Babet, will bring “impactful” heavy rain and strong winds to the UK from Wednesday, forecasters say.
The yellow warning runs from 9pm on Wednesday (18 October) to 6am on Saturday (21 October).
It covers much of the east of England, from Norwich up to beyond Newcastle.
“There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings,” the warning states.
“Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.
“There is a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses.”
