Issued by York Museums Trust
Frugal fiancés who fancy throwing caution to the wind are being offered the chance to hire one of Yorks most beautiful wedding venues at a discounted rate – on Friday or Saturday 13 2013.
The medieval Hospitium in the York Museum Gardens is one of the most popular wedding venues in the city and many of the weekend dates for this year are already booking up fast.
However two dates remain notably empty – September Friday 13 and December Friday 13 as well as Saturday April 13 and July Saturday 13.
To encourage people to book on these days York Museums Trust, which run the Hospitium, have decided to offer couples a discount price of £1313.13.
Jennifer Cork, weddings supervisor, said: “Getting married on Friday 13 in 2013 is a bit much for some people – I guess if youre superstitious in any way you would probably do your best to avoid it.
“But it seems Saturday 13th 2013 are also proving a bit much for some people. The Saturday in July in particular we would have expected to have been booked months ago.
“However there are many non-superstitious people out there who may not believe in that sort of thing and we thought we would offer them the chance to get married in our beautiful venue for a discounted rate on these dates.”
The normal price of hiring the Hospitium on a Friday in September is £2,300, while it is £1,800 in December. The price for a Saturday in April or July is usually £2,800.

The beautiful Hospitium is one of Yorkshires finest wedding venues. The 14th century building sits in Yorks picturesque Museum Gardens, in the grounds of St Marys Abbey. For more information go to: www.yorkvenues.org.uk.
