Work to create the first ever Winter Village at York Minster is now underway.
Located at the foot of the South Door of York Minster, it comprises several decorative wooden cabins offering food, drinks, gifts and the perfect place to sit and admire the view.
The Winter Village is a collaboration with York Minster who also bring a new Christmas event for this year, The Christmas Tree Festival, next to the village space.
The team behind The Winter Village have been busy working with more than 30 local businesses to bring their products to The Yorkshire Shop for visitors to buy throughout the seven-week period.
Food and drink will be on offer from Yorkshire companies including Love Cheese, Wharfe Valley Oils, Reet Yorkshire and Baytown Coffee.
Gifts come from Yorkshire Blankets, We Drifters, The Little Yorkshire Candle Company, Paul Franklin Photography, the York Minster Shop and more.
Beers and gluhwein
The Yorkshire Bottle Shop will also be open daily offering a range of beers and spirit gift packs. Brands include York Gin, Sloe Motion, Priory Vodka, Luxlo Spirits, Ravenhill Brewery and Whitby Distillery to name a few.
Meanwhile, the Village Bar will be fully licensed and offers everything from traditional gluhwein, draught beers and a selection of hot and cold drinks, including coffee and that Christmas favourite, hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows.
