Woman suffers serious eye injury in York city centre attack

A woman on a night out in York was attacked and left with a serious eye injury.

The victim, who is 26 and from York, was assaulted by another woman on Rougier Street between 12.30am and 12.45am on Sunday (July 26).

She was taken by ambulance to York Hospital for treatment and will require further surgery to her eye.

At the time of the assault, Rougier Street was busy with people enjoying a night out.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the assault, or has any other information that could help identify the suspect, to contact them.
