A woman was hit in the neck by a pellet from an air gun close to a York supermarket.
It happened at around 6pm on Sunday (4 February) as the victim walked across the car park of the Spar store in Turner Close, Heworth.
The woman needed treatment for a puncture wound and swelling to her neck.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Police in York are appealing for witnesses and information after a woman was shot in her neck by what is believed to be an air rifle.
“They would also like to speak to the kind member of public who came to the victims aid but left before the police arrived.”
