Firefighters rescued a woman who fell down a riverbank in York early this morning.
The incident happened near Tower Street at 3.21am.
The woman, aged in her 20s, “tumbled some distance down the River Foss bank side while trying to find a quiet place to answer the call of nature, following a night out”, a North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said.
Two friends called 999.
York and Acomb fire crews went to the scene. They used a triple extension ladder to bring her back to safety.
Fortunately she hadn’t entered the water and was unhurt.
