Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was punched in the face by a driver while crossing the road in York.

She was crossing Bar Lane, at Micklegate Bar, with her young daughter and male partner when an altercation with the motorist broke out.

The man driving a black Nissan Quashqai is said to have leant out of his window and hit her in the face.

He then drove off quickly, turning left on to Micklegate and then right onto Priory Street.

It happened on Friday (28 December) at around 1pm.

Enquiries to identify the driver of the vehicle are ongoing, and officers are urging anyone who witnessed the information or has any details that could help the investigation to get in touch.
