A woman was found unconscious in her York home by firefighters last night.
A crew from Acomb responded to a call from a neighbour saying a smoke alarm had been sounding for some time within her home.
Firefighters said the alarm had activated due to cooking fumes.
They then found the occupant, a woman in her 50s, unresponsive on her bed.
A neighbour told them that they thought the woman was diabetic. Firefighters called an ambulance and began first aid.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Paramedics arrived quickly and occupant left in their care.”
