A woman has died after falling from the fourth storey of a Scarborough building.
Police were called at around 5.25pm yesterday (Monday, 9 May) by a member of the public who saw the woman on a ledge four storeys up on Albemarle Crescent.
A short time later, the woman, who was aged in her 40s, was seen to fall from the ledge. Sadly, she sustained fatal injuries.
Police are now investigating the circumstances of her death.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The investigation is in the early stages and police are working to establish the exact circumstances that led to her death.
“A man has been arrested as part of the investigation and remains in police custody for questioning.”
Albemarle Crescent was closed yesterday to allow emergency services to attend the incident, reopening at 9.15pm.
The road was closed again this lunchtime for more police investigation work. It has since reopened.
