Updated: Woman attacked from behind as she walked home
A woman was attacked from behind as she was walking home last night (Monday).
The victim was walking on Bright Walk, Selby, at about 7.55pm.
An unknown offender – or offenders – approached her from behind and punched her in the face.
This caused her to fall to the ground where she was kicked. Her attacker stole money from her pocket before running off.
Neighbourhood Policing Inspector, Martin Wedgwood said: “I am fully aware of this incident and we are working hard to identify suspects for this offence.
“It is evident that a lone female has been targeted and I want to reassure you we are doing all we can to prevent anything similar happening again.
“I would like to highlight that we have had no reports of a similar nature and I hope that this will be an isolated incident.
“However, there is understandably a lot of concern about this report and we must all be extra vigilant.
“I’d urge anyone who can provide information on the identities of a group of people in or around the location of Bright Walk on the Flaxley Road estate last night (11 October 2021) to please get in touch
“We will be stepping up patrols in the area for the foreseeable future.”
