A woman was attacked and sexually assaulted in York in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).
It happened in the Huntington area at some time between 12am and 1.21am.
The victim was walking her dog along a footpath off Monkton Road, running along South Beck.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “She was attacked by an unknown man who pushed her to the ground on a grassy mound.
“The incident was reported to North Yorkshire Police at 1.21am. An extensive area search was carried out and detailed enquiries are ongoing in the effort to locate him.”
Her attacker is described as:
- white
- of medium build
- and wearing a tracksuit.
“Anyone who believes they may know this man or have any information that could assist the investigation, please contact us without delay,” the police spokesperson said.
“We are also urging residents in the local area to check their CCTV and doorbell cameras for any footage of people walking about between midnight and 1.21am today.”
The victim is being supported by specially trained police officers while the investigation continues.
