A woman was attacked and knocked out near a York pub – and now the search is on to find her cat which fled from the scene.
Lisa Williams, 57, was out in the early hours this morning (New Year’s Day / Monday) with her cat, Mr Bo Jangles, in her pet backpack.
She was on Haxby Road when she came across an altercation near the Punch Bowl pub between a woman drinker and a member of staff.
Daughter Mercedes Gamble said her mum tried to intervene to calm the situation – but was knocked to the floor and kicked.
Lisa lost consciousness. When she came round she realised her cat, Mr Bo Jangles, had fled the scene and has not been seen since.
“My mum can’t remember much but she was knocked to the ground where she was knocked unconscious,” Mercedes told YorkMix.
“She has a large lump on the side of her head, and cuts and bruises to her chin and eyebrow.

“Mr Bo Jangles ran off while all this was going on.”
Lisa has been treated in the emergency department at York Hospital for her injuries.
Now the search is on to find Mr Bo Jangles, a black Maine Coon cat. Lisa is very worried for his welfare.
Mercedes said: “Please can we look out for him, he will be extremely scared as he’s an indoor cat. He is chipped and insured.”
