Woman arrested after alleged assault near York pub

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of assault after an incident near a city pub.

It happened on Haxby Road when the 30-year-old woman and 29-year-old man had left The Punchbowl at around 10.30pm on Saturday (29 August).

A North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Following police enquiries, the woman was arrested for assault and resisting arrest.

“She has been released on conditional police bail to mid-September while enquiries continue.

“We are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

“In particular, we are appealing for information from anyone who witnessed the incident or possibly recalled a disturbance in the area on Saturday evening.”
