An elderly woman has died in a road accident to the north of York.
The woman, 84, died in a collision on Corban Lane, Shipton-by-Beningborough, at 12.35pm on Saturday (February 24).
It involved a white Toyota Aygo and a blue Volkswagen Tiguan.
The white Aygo, driven by an 89-year-old man from York with an 84-year-old woman passenger, was travelling along Corban Lane from Wigginton towards Shipton-by-Beningborough.
The Tiguan was travelling in the opposite direction. It was driven by a 67-year-old man with three passengers – a 65-year-old woman, and two children aged six and seven.
Critical condition
The 84-year-old female passenger in the Aygo was taken to York Hospital by ambulance, where she later very sadly died.
The 89-year-old male driver of the Aygo was also taken to York Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
The occupants of the Tiguan sustained minor injuries.
Police are not yet in a position to release the identity of the woman who died.
