A woman had to have surgery for her injuries after she was attacked from behind while waiting for a taxi in York.
The assault happened on Micklegate just after 8pm on Bank Holiday Monday, 31 August.
The a 60-year-old woman was standing in the alleyway between Pizza Plus and David Wilson Hairdressing Salon. She was pushed from behind by an unknown person.
She was taken to York Hospital by ambulance. Doctors found she had sustained a fractured cheek bone and also a broken nose. She underwent surgery to these injuries.
Officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or could help identify the suspect to get in touch.
The suspect is
- a white male
- in his mid-20s
- tall
- slim
- and he was wearing black jogging bottoms.
