A young woman has life-threatening injuries after a road accident in York.

The 23-year-old pedestrian was in a collision with a grey Skoda Octavia on Ouse Bridge at 11pm on Saturday (May 6).

The woman, from York, sustained life threatening head and serious pelvic injuries and was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary where she remains in a serious condition.

The 79-year-old male driver of the Skoda was unhurt. He attended the police station as a voluntary attendee and has been released whilst enquiries continue.

Ouse Bridge was closed for several hours as North Yorkshire Police investigated the crash.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward and contact them to assist them in determining the full circumstances surrounding the collision.

Anyone with any information which would assist the investigation is asked to contact TC Andy Tucker on 101 or email [email protected].
