Tickets for a brand-new Pride event for everyone living in the Yorkshire Wolds are now on sale.
Wolds Pride will bring their debut Pride event to Pocklington Arts Centre on Saturday 24 September, from 12noon to 5.30pm.
Wolds Pride chair Adam Tipping said: “Our team of volunteers and collaborators have been working extremely hard to develop and create this event, and we can’t wait to come together with you all to celebrate ourselves, our community, and Pride!
“Growing up in this rural area, I never imagined an event like this would be possible.
“I feel so incredibly proud to be part of a team that wants to highlight and celebrate diversity, equality, and inclusion within the Yorkshire Wolds.
“There will be something for everyone, so be sure to come along and show your support.”
The free event will be jam-packed full of interactive and engaging activities and opportunities for everybody to enjoy, including live performances, drag artists, LGBTQ+ story time, and a creative corner featuring free arts and crafts for all.
There will also be a range of workshops taking place including ‘create your own Pride flag’, ‘Queer creative writing’ and ‘make your own cardboard extravaganza outfit’.
The event will also have a community zone packed with stands from local organisations and charities, highlighting various services and support available locally, plus a Pride market featuring local LGBTQ+ businesses, as well as free makeovers and a Queer clothes swap.
The event’s wellness zone, delivered in collaboration with Autistic Pride at Pride, will offer a safe, quiet space for anybody who needs it.
People who come along will also be able to enjoy some live spoken word, a live panel discussion around the theme of ‘Why do we need Pride?’, free meditation workshops, plus a whole host of free information and resources.
The event is free to attend and everyone is welcome. Spaces are limited so advance booking is recommended. Donations to help Wolds Pride continue their work are invited at the point of booking.
