It’s a question YorkMix gets asked over and over again when an unusual aircraft appears over North Yorkshire.

We always like to help and find out why if we can. Sometimes it’s a police helicopter on an operation and sometimes it’s a sightseeing flight over the Minster and the Moors. Occasionally it’s the RAF with a loud jet high above the ground.

The National Police Air Service is tasked by police forces across England and Wales.

This afternoon one of their aeroplanes will be conducting training activity in York with @NYorksPolice @NYP_York which will include low level flying.
