What do you most love about York? Capture it on camera and you could win cash!
York is a special place to many of us, and what better way to express that than through art?
Whether your favourite thing about the city is the music scene, the architecture, the food, the bars, the people, or simply meandering through the streets, there is so much to enjoy in York.
York for Europe is inviting the residents and visitors to York to let out their creative side and contribute to a new art exhibition – by showing their personal view of what they love most about York.
“What I Love About York” will be displayed on the riverside railings on Dame Judy Dench Walk on Saturday 22 August and Saturday 29 August 2021.
Art mediums such as paintings, photographs, textiles, weaving, knitting, embroidery, sculpture, collage, and pottery are all welcome.
People of all ages and level of experience and skill are invited to join in.
Though the theme of “What I Love About York” is open to interpretation, York for Europe are hoping to see “surprising, unusual or quirky” submissions that show a side of York rarely seen or known about.
There will be two age categories: “18 years and under” and “Over 18”. There will be one cash prize in each of two categories of £50. The deadline for submissions is Saturday, 24 July 2021.
For more information and full details on how to take part, please visit the York for Europe website.
