Tributes have been coming in for Greg Marshall, the man murdered in York on Saturday.
Greg, 35, was fatally stabbed in the Bell Farm Estate, leaving behind his wife and young family.
His loved ones described him as “our beloved son, father, husband, brother, uncle and loyal friend”.
Greg was married to Michelle. He went to Burnholme Community College.
He was a boxer who made many friends in the sport. He described himself on his Facebook page as Bareknuckle Champion 2022 & 2023.
His death sent shockwaves through York and the boxing community.
One friend said: “Don’t believe what I’m hearing. RIP Greg Marshall – what a man, what a champion, what a character.
“One of the single nicest guys I ever met. I have absolutely no words at all. Where does it end?
“Fly high champion, you will never be forgotten.”

Another said: “In shock like half of York and everyone else that knew you. We have had some laughs and some mad nights, been mischievous, spent a lot of time together – you will be missed mate, see you on other side pal.”
“What a lad. Forever young,” a third friend said. “What is going on people running around murdering people?
“You hear it so much on the news but it never feels real until it’s happening in your home town.
“Thoughts go out to his family wife and children. Such sad news for all the family at this time.”
A 33-year-old man has been charged with murder.
